Since its founding in 2000, the European Nursery Championship has crowned a champion each year, with the sole exception of years lost to foot-and-mouth restrictions and other extraordinary circumstances. The following is a summary of results from recent editions. For detailed run-by-run scores, see the individual year pages where available.
The championship was held in the United Kingdom for its first three editions (2000–2002), before expanding to continental Europe in 2003 with a memorable event in the Netherlands. Since then, the hosting duties have rotated among participating nations, with each country bringing its own distinctive sheep breeds and terrain to the competition. Notable early champions include Stuart Davidson (Scotland, 2003 & 2006), Dewi Jenkins (Wales, 2005), and Piet Hein van Dijk (Netherlands, 2008).
Complete run sheets and detailed scores for editions prior to 2015 are held in the ISDS archive. If you are a past competitor seeking your historical results, please contact the ENC committee who can assist with archive requests.
France, Ireland, and the United Kingdom have produced the most individual champions over the history of the event. Germany and the Netherlands have also been consistent contenders, particularly in the last decade. The highest-ever final score was recorded in 2016, when Michael Gallagher and Bess achieved 29 out of a possible 30 points on a technically demanding course in Bundoran. The youngest handler to win the championship was 19 years old at the time of their victory.
